Moinho Cultural named Best Culture NGO in Brazil in 2024

For the first time, Instituto Moinho Cultural was recognized as the Best Culture NGO in Brazil. On top of that, it was named — for the second year running — the Best NGO in Mato Grosso do Sul and, for the third time, ranks among the country’s 100 Best NGOs.

Each year, the Prêmio Melhores ONGs (Best NGOs Award) spotlights nonprofit organizations from all over Brazil, recognizing initiatives that drive social impact, transparency, and a commitment to transforming lives.

This recognition celebrates Moinho Cultural’s 20th anniversary, as it continues to promote art, culture, and education for children, teenagers, and young people on the Brazil–Bolivia border.

In 2021, we were honored to be recognized as the Best NGO in Mato Grosso do Sul at the Prêmio Melhores ONGs (Best NGOs Award), a nationwide recognition that highlights the transparency, management, and impact of organizations across Brazil. This achievement reflects the commitment and dedication of our entire team and supporters to transforming lives!

Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano is now recognized as a Pontão de Cultura (Culture Hub) of Mato Grosso do Sul. Having been a Ponto de Cultura (Culture Point) since 2004, the institution has now also been certified as a Pontão. Both Pontos and Pontões are initiatives of the Plano Nacional de Cultura Viva (National Living Culture Program). Under the title Moinho Cultural – Unindo Pontos, Moinho Cultural will work alongside its partners: Grupo Vozes Especiais, Sociedade Comunitária Gibiteca, Fundação Nelito Câmara, Circo do Mato, and Grupo TEZ.

The mission of the Prêmio Melhores ONGs (Best NGOs Award) is to recognize and promote the NGOs in Brazil that stand out most each year for their excellence in management, governance, financial sustainability, and transparency.

Member of the Plataforma por um Novo Marco Regulatório das Organizações da Sociedade Civil – the MROSC Platform.

A representative network of various social movements, religious groups, civil-society organizations (CSOs), institutes, private foundations, and solidarity-economy cooperatives. It was created in 2010 to define a common advocacy agenda for Brazilian civil society, aimed at improving its operating environment — whether through regulation or through the production and sharing of knowledge. Made up of more than 2,000 signatory organizations, with an indirect network reaching over 100,000 organizations, the Platform highlights the role of CSOs as part of Brazil’s social heritage and a pillar of our democracy.
