Pontos and Pontões de Cultura, cultural agents, and representatives of the Cultura Viva network from the states of Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, Goiás, and the Federal District will take part, on March 24, in the 4th Teia/Forum of the Pontos de Cultura of the Center-West, held in a virtual format. The gathering takes place at 8 p.m. (Brasília time) and aims to strengthen regional articulation, promote the exchange of experiences among the territories, and prepare delegates for the 6th Teia Nacional dos Pontos de Cultura, which will be held from May 19 to 24, 2026.
The initiative brings together Pontos and Pontões de Cultura, cultural agents, and territorial networks of the region in a moment of dialogue, mobilization, and collective building. The program includes an opening and welcome, the presentation of a video summarizing the state Teias of the Center-West, institutional remarks from a Ministry of Culture representative, the sharing of experiences from the state Teias, and a moment dedicated to mobilization and preparation for the national stage.
For Walter Cedro Santos, representative of the Comissão Nacional dos Pontos de Cultura (CNPdC) (National Commission of Pontos de Cultura) and one of those responsible for organizing the online gathering, the initiative represents an effort to restore the collective strength of the Cultura Viva network in the region. “We used to be the most articulated region of the country within the Cultura Viva program. After the state and district Teias, we once again feel that energy coming from the Cerrado, the Pantanal, and the Legal Amazon. The Virtual Teia is a moment of reunion, of listening, and of strengthening this articulation,” he says.
According to him, the gathering will also be important for integrating new participants who will represent the region at the national stage. “Many delegates have never taken part in a National Teia. This regional gathering will be a moment of learning, exchange of experiences, and preparation for those who are now joining the Cultura Viva program,” he explains.
Besides strengthening dialogue among the states, Walter notes that the gathering also seeks to reinforce the union among the region’s Pontos and Pontões de Cultura. “What often keeps us apart is distance, but what unites us is Cultura Viva. These gatherings are essential so we can recognize one another, share experiences, and strengthen our network,” he adds.
According to Márcia Rolon, artistic director of the Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano (South American Moinho Cultural Institute) and Mato Grosso do Sul’s representative on the National Commission of Pontos de Cultura, the Virtual Teia is an important moment of connection among the region’s pontos. “The Teia is always a space for gathering, listening, and collective building. When the Pontos and Pontões de Cultura come together, we strengthen the network, share experiences, and expand the capacity for mobilization so that cultural public policies keep moving forward,” she highlights.
Participation is open to Pontos and Pontões de Cultura, elected delegates of the Center-West, and cultural agents of the region. The access link will be made available in the Teia Centro-Oeste WhatsApp group, and those interested who are not yet part of the group should reach out to the Ponto de Cultura in their territory for access information.
