Mayor Marcelo Iunes swore in the new members of the Conselho Municipal de Política Cultural de Corumbá (Corumbá Municipal Council for Cultural Policy) this Tuesday, August 29. The ceremony was held at the Paço Municipal and was attended by the Secretary of Government, Luiz Antônio Pardal, the president-director of the Fundação da Cultura e do Patrimônio Histórico, Joilson Cruz, and the former president of the Culture Council, Marcelle Saboya Ravanelli.
“Municipal Councils are the voice of the population within the Public Power. Our administration has always worked alongside the councils, including reactivating those that had been inactive, because we believe this partnership is important and benefits the population,” said Mayor Marcelo Iunes, highlighting the work of the council members.
“I want to sincerely thank you for taking on this responsibility, this commitment to our city, and wish you good luck in the work that begins now. Corumbá is the birthplace of the culture of Mato Grosso do Sul. Our Carnival, our São João and other cultural events are not just festivities. They are traditions of our people and events that generate jobs and income for thousands of families,” the head of the Municipal Executive continued.
Marcelo Iunes also thanked the excellent work carried out by the previous Culture Council administration and reiterated that the municipal Executive will remain open and attentive to the demands of the entire cultural community of Corumbá. “We are committed to continuing to support our cultural events,” he concluded.
The Municipal Secretary of Government, Luiz Antônio Pardal, also congratulated the former Council members and the new council members. Meanwhile, the president-director of the Culture Foundation, Joilson Cruz, noted that a great deal of progress has been made in recent years, but that challenges still remain. “That’s why we need to work together, for the common good of our municipality,” he stressed.
The full members of the Corumbá Municipal Council for Cultural Policy sworn in for the two-year term are:
Joilson Cruz and Sandro Asseff, representing the Fundação da Cultura e do Patrimônio Histórico; Pedro Miranda, representing the Municipal Secretariat of Education; Mercedes Cabrera Fernandes, representing the Tourism Foundation; Lauzie Xavier Salazar, representing the Mayor’s Office; Alfredo Ferraz, representing the Festejos de Santos (Saints’ Festivities); Claudio Braga, representing Carnival; Marcia Rolon, representing Non-Governmental Cultural Institutions; Gisele Monteiro, representing Handicrafts; and Júlia Castedo, representing Music.
The alternates are: Lívia Gaertner, José Rozisca, Miriam Bastos, Jéssica Carvalho, Ramona Santos, Anne Saldanha, Thayná Cambará, Wellington Silva, Wanessa Rodrigues and Luã Vianna.
