Entrepreneurship is learned from an early age, and there is no better place to do it than school. In the municipality of Corumbá, Entrepreneurial Education is gaining more and more space in classrooms. This Monday (18), educators from the Instituto Moinho Cultural (IMC) (Cultural Mill Institute) took part in two workshops, as a method for working on entrepreneurial skills with high school students who participate in Moinho Cultural. The institution serves 400 children and young people from Ladário, Corumbá and the Bolivian municipalities of Puerto Quijarro and Puerto Suárez, aged between 6 and 8, within an eight-year cycle inside the project.
The initiative is developed by Sebrae/MS’s Entrepreneurial Education Program through Pró Pantanal – a program supporting the economic recovery of the Pantanal biome. Sebrae/MS technical analyst and state manager of the Entrepreneurial Education Program, Priscila Veloso Silva, reinforced that the institution’s work is aimed at bringing improvements to communities through the promotion of entrepreneurship. “I believe in encouraging students to have contact with the world of entrepreneurship and to be able to glimpse possibilities for entrepreneurship in their own lives, in their community,” she said.
The Instituto Moinho Cultural offers classes in music, dance and other arts, and with Entrepreneurial Education inserted into this context, students will gain knowledge to apply entrepreneurship in the creative economy sector.
In the workshop “Journey to the World of Entrepreneurship,” the fundamental concepts of the entrepreneurship universe were covered, as well as a test to identify the entrepreneurial profile. In it, reflections involving young people’s world are encouraged, connecting the content to the daily situations of their lives.
The workshop “Laboratory of Ideas” addresses the importance of new ideas in the context of innovation and the search for solutions to new or old problems. In it, participants worked on solving a concrete problem from their school, neighborhood or city, stimulating creativity and the exchange of experiences.
Those who took part in the workshop had the opportunity to open their minds to self-development. That is the case of Alice Aquino, from the Instituto Moinho Cultural’s communications area. “We know that in Brazil, becoming an entrepreneur is a very difficult task, but with the right information and truly knowing the necessary tools, we can reach our goals. Here we will be multiplying agents for transformation, passing this on to the participants, where we will be able to help the families we serve even more,” she commented.
Meanwhile, the coordinator of IMC’s music center, Matheus Felix, believes that innovation, creativity, courage and planning make all the difference. “I have already applied some of the tools mentioned in the classroom, and I can see that others can easily be applied, since I already left the workshop able to visualize it. It will add a lot for children to have this contact from an early age,” he pointed out.

Pró Pantanal – the Program to Support the Economic Recovery of the Pantanal Biome – is a Sebrae initiative to promote economic activities in the areas of tourism, the creative economy and agribusiness existing in the Pantanal.
The program is also supported by the Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS) (Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul), the Federação das Associações Empresariais de Mato Grosso do Sul (FAEMS) (Federation of Business Associations of Mato Grosso do Sul), the Instituto do Meio Ambiente de MS (Imasul) (MS Environment Institute) and the Secretaria de Meio Ambiente, Desenvolvimento Econômico, Produção e Agricultura Familiar (Semagro) (Secretariat of the Environment, Economic Development, Production and Family Agriculture).
