Project began in April this year and is run by Moinho Cultural and ABM
In the final month of the project “Diálogos Musicais Ibero-Americanos” (Ibero-American Musical Dialogues), the program includes three conferences, two talks, one masterclass and four concerts. The project is an initiative of ABM (Associação de Bandolins da Madeira – Madeira Mandolin Association) and the Instituto Cultural Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano (South American Moinho Cultural Institute). The entire program is online and free of charge.
This coming Saturday of the month (June 18), the program includes a bowed-viola masterclass with Brazilian musician Brenner Rozales, live from Tel Aviv (Israel). On the same day, Leonardo Afonso Luthier gives a talk on “String instruments: construction, maintenance and care,” from 11am to 1pm, which will be broadcast on ABM’s YouTube channel.
On the project’s final weekend, June 25, the program opens with the talk “New technology synchronization projects applied to culture, as a platform for presentation and promotion,” with Reinaldo Delgado, Alice Aquino, Karine Dias, Turnino Caires and Paulo Nunes, from 11am to 1pm. From 2pm to 4pm, the conference “The mandolin in its European historical context, its social role today (orchestras and tunas) and its spread throughout the world” takes place, with Norberto Cruz, from Portal das Artes. The program closes with the performance, starting at 9pm, of the Regional Meeting of Tunas and Orchestras of the R.A.M. (Portugal).
All of the project’s programming can be followed on the social media channels (Facebook and YouTube) of ABM and Moinho Cultural. “Diálogos Musicais Ibero-Americanos” seeks cultural rapprochement between Europe and America, and, to that end, has offered knowledge in the field of music through masterclasses, conferences and concerts. The project has the support of: the Portuguese Republic, DGArtes, the Regional Government of Madeira, the Regional Secretariat of Tourism and Culture, the Regional Secretariat of Education, Science and Technology, the Portuguese Republic – Culture, Instituto Camões – Institute for Cooperation and the Portuguese Language, Funarte and Ibermúsicas. The Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano
Founded in Corumbá (MS) in 2004, Moinho Cultural is a civil society organization (OSC) that offers dance, music, technology and computer classes to children and teenagers in situations of social vulnerability in Corumbá, Ladário, Puerto Suárez and Puerto Quijarro. The continuing education offered by the institution lasts up to eight years. Moinho also works on training creative performers for young people and adults, through the Companhia de Dança do Pantanal (Pantanal Dance Company), Orquestra de Câmara do Pantanal (Pantanal Chamber Orchestra) and Núcleo de Tecnologia (Technology Hub). The institution’s mission is to reduce social vulnerability in the Brazil-Bolivia border region through access to cultural and technological assets. Since it began operating, more than 23,000 children and teenagers have been served by Moinho.
Currently, Moinho Cultural has master sponsorship via the Lei de Incentivo Cultural (Cultural Incentive Law) from Instituto Cultural Vale, as well as sponsorship from Bellalluna Participações LTDA, Brinks, BTG Pactual, Carai Empreendimentos LTDA, Comper, Instituto Itaú Cultural, Hinove, Rodobens and Criança Esperança, in addition to the partnership of J.Macêdo, Itaú Social and FecomércioMS-SESC.
