The music leader of the Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano (South American Moinho Cultural Institute), located in Corumbá, was selected to perform this Friday night (7) with the Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira (Brazilian Symphony Orchestra – OSB).
Melissa Lazo, who is part of the Programa Vale Música (Vale Música Program), will take part in the OSB’s “Duos Sinfônicos” series. The project features musical videos recorded remotely and made available on the institution’s social media.
The event’s performances can be followed through the Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira’s social media.
Violinist Melissa, who is Bolivian, will perform with the OSB’s bassoonist, Paulo Andrade, the work “Ária”, by Bach, arranged by Ana Azevedo. The piece became popular after German violinist August Wilhelmj made an adaptation performed entirely on the violin’s G string, which is why it is known as the “Air on the G String”.
According to Melissa, it has been very important for all teachers and students of the institute to keep having musical activities even remotely with the Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira: “We have enjoyed master classes, virtual performances and now, Duos Sinfônicos, which we are proud to be part of”, explained the young musician.
Duos Sinfônicos
The “Duos Sinfônicos” series began in April and features the performance of various classical and popular music classics by members of the Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira and participants of the Programa Vale Música.
Next Friday (14), at 6:30 PM (Brasília time), a video will be released featuring the performance of “Carinhoso”, by Pixinguinha and João de Barro, arranged by Ana Azevedo, performed by clarinetist Márcio Costa, of the OSB, with violinist Fábio Santos, a student of Vale Música Belém.
The Programa Vale Música is a collaborative teaching and learning network of the Instituto Cultural Vale, which creates opportunities for students to take part in musical training in the states of Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Pará and Mato Grosso do Sul, and encourages the exchange of experience with the country’s leading orchestras.
In all, the network involves more than 240 professionals and more than a thousand students. Partners of the Programa Vale Música include the Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira, the Orquestra Ouro Preto, the Orquestra Filarmônica de Minas Gerais, the Nova Orquestra and the Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo, sponsored by the Instituto Cultural Vale through the Cultural Incentive Law.
