On March 8, Mesa Brasil Sesc and União BR promoted the delivery of 1,300 food boxes collected in November of last year, during singer Luan Santana’s livestream “O Pantanal Chama” (“The Pantanal Calls”), to help families in situations of vulnerability caused by the wildfires that destroyed a quarter of the biome.

The symbolic delivery took place at 4 p.m. at Moinho Cultural. In total, more than a thousand people benefited from the food collected. Ten organizations and schools in the city carried out the distribution of the biscuit boxes donated by Vitarella and PIC Me fruit purée.

Part of these donations went to the following Municipal Schools of Full-Time Education (EMEIs): Rachid Bardauil, Tilma Fernandes Veiga, Luiz Feitosa Rodrigues and Escola Jatobazinho. The Asilo São José, Moinho Cultural, the Centro Apoio Infanto Juvenil (CAIJ) and the Pastoral da Criança will also be included.

“With the arrival of the pandemic we had to step up our work, and we were already delivering more than a thousand tons of food per year. The idea is to help those who need it most with donations, whether the most vulnerable families or public institutions such as the Hospital Regional, which is a reference in Covid treatment,” said the Regional Director of Sesc MS, Regina Ferro.

Sesc MS, through Mesa Brasil Sesc, acts as an anchor for the União BR movement, promoting the distribution of the items received. União BR is a volunteer movement of Brazilian society to strengthen the fight against the coronavirus and the impacts caused by the pandemic in Brazil.
