Honored by Bloco Águia da Vila at Carnival 2023, Moinho Cultural is one of the sales points for the abadá (carnival t-shirt). The bloco will parade on February 18th, at the Corumbá Carnival, the largest in Mato Grosso do Sul. To take part in the gathering and the parade, participants must be wearing the abadá along with white pants, shorts, bermudas or a skirt.
Bloco Águia da Vila is one of the most traditional in Corumbá, having paraded there for two decades. The bloco was also champion a few years ago, telling the story of a businesswoman from Corumbá.
This year’s abadá can be bought directly at Moinho Cultural’s front office, which operates Monday through Friday, from 8am to 11am and from 2pm to 5pm. The abadá costs R$ 50.
According to the carnival bloco’s president, Piano, Moinho Cultural was chosen to be honored after he watched the Moinho In Concert (In Concert Mill) show in December of last year. The samba’s composition was written by Pedro Castro, known as Pedrão.
The samba tells a bit of the institution’s history, which turned 18 in 2022, and how the work carried out by Moinho Cultural impacts Pantanal society.
“For us, this tribute is the recognition of all the work developed by Moinho Cultural over the last 18 years. There’s nothing like being recognized in our own city, which has the largest Carnival in Mato Grosso do Sul,” says Moinho Cultural’s executive director, Márcia Rolon.
