Institute has already served about 23 thousand young people and children and turns 20 next year

Headquartered in Corumbá, in Mato Grosso do Sul, the Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano (South American Cultural Mill Institute), which has already served about 23 thousand children and young people from Corumbá, Ladário, in MS, and from Bolivia, was elected one of the 100 best NGOs in Brazil.

On the website www.premiomelhores.org, it is possible to see the names of the organizations recognized for their good practices in areas such as governance, transparency, communication, and funding. This is the seventh edition of the Award, held by the Instituto O Mundo que Queremos (We Want This World Institute) (IOMQQ) and by Instituto Doar, sponsored by Ambev VOA, with support from Instituto Humanize, Prosas, and Toyota do Brasil.

The Prêmio Melhores ONGs (Best NGOs Award) has the mission of recognizing and publicizing the NGOs in Brazil that stand out most each year for their excellence in management, governance, financial sustainability, and transparency.
“Having been recognized as one of the best NGOs in Brazil proves that we are on the right path and that our mission of transforming the lives of children and young people, not only from the Brazil-Bolivia border but from many other parts of the country, is only just beginning,” celebrates Márcia Rolón, founder and executive director of Moinho Cultural, who turns 20 years of activities next year.

The Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano

Moinho Cultural is a civil society organization (OSC) that has offered, for 19 years, dance, music, technology, and computer science classes to children and adolescents in situations of social vulnerability in Corumbá, Ladário, Puerto Suárez, and Puerto Quijarro. The comprehensive training offered by the institution lasts up to eight years. Moinho also works on training creative performers for young people and adults, through the Companhia de Dança do Pantanal (Pantanal Dance Company), the Orquestra de Câmara do Pantanal (Pantanal Chamber Orchestra) – OCAMP, and the Núcleo de Tecnologia (Technology Center). The institution’s mission is to reduce social vulnerability in the Brazil-Bolivia border region through access to cultural and technological assets. Since the start of its activities, more than 23 thousand children and adolescents have already been served by Moinho.

Currently, Moinho Cultural has master sponsorship via the Cultural Incentive Law from the Instituto Cultural Vale, as well as sponsorship from Bellalluna Participações LTDA, Energisa, BRINKS, BTG Pactual, Caraí Empreendimentos LTDA, HINOVE, Rodobens, Cultural Support from Instituto FAR, funding from the Government of the State of Mato Grosso do Sul through the Fundação de Cultura de Mato Grosso do Sul (Mato Grosso do Sul Culture Foundation), in addition to the partnership with J.Macêdo and Fecomércio MS-SESC.

Institutional partners include the Municipality of Corumbá, the Municipality of Ladário, the Municipality of Puerto Suárez, the Municipality of Puerto Quijarro, Instituto Homem Pantaneiro, IFMS, UFMS, Acaia Pantanal, and other individual and corporate donors.

ABOUT OCAMP

The Orquestra de Câmara do Pantanal (Pantanal Chamber Orchestra), officially created in 2018, is part of the activities of the Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano, which has worked for 18 years on Social Transformation through Art, in Corumbá.
The Orchestra plays a significant role in the cultural context of the Pantanal region, with an extensive program that includes symphonic and chamber repertoires — classical, popular, and regional — suitable not only for concert halls but also for auditoriums, campuses and educational institutions, theaters, amphitheaters, and open-air performances, as well as for small receptions, birthdays, weddings, and other events. Its main objectives are to promote symphonic and chamber music, innovate in educational and artistic proposals, foster audience development, and, above all, promote interaction between the knowledge produced at the Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano and society.

In 2022, some musicians from this orchestra joined the Orquestra Vale Música (Vale Música Orchestra) and traveled to Dubai. Tours around Brazil and holding FEMUP – the Festival de Música de Concerto do Pantanal (Pantanal Concert Music Festival), are also part of the Orchestra’s history.

ABOUT THE CIA DE DANÇA DO PANTANAL

The Cia de Dança do Pantanal was created in 2017, in the city of Corumbá/MS, on the border with Bolivia, being one of the integrated actions of the Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano. The purpose from the beginning has been to provide access and professional opportunities for dancers from South American social projects, as well as to represent the Pantanal territory, promoting dance with repertoires that include neoclassical and contemporary pieces, created by national and international choreographers.
The Company aims to explore and focus its contemporary works on one of the most precious biomes of Humanity, the Pantanal, which extends across Brazil, Bolivia, and Paraguay, countries that border the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, and which is considered the largest floodable area on the planet.
The Prêmio Melhores ONGs 2023 (Best NGOs Award 2023) Ceremony took place yesterday (12/07) at the Teatro Sérgio Cardoso in São Paulo.
