Moinho Cultural opens spots for children and young people in music workshop

The Instituto Cultural Vale, Ministério do Turismo (Ministry of Tourism) and Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano are opening registration for beginner music workshops. The spots are for children and young people, ages 9 to 18. Registration can be done until April 29, at the Moinho Cultural headquarters, in Corumbá.

The workshops will have two classes per week, lasting 1h15, offered in the morning and afternoon periods. Children or young people are not required to have any prior experience with the instrument. Classes will be offered in percussion for girls (20 spots), bassoon (4 spots), French horn (6 spots), violin (20), viola (19 spots), double bass (12 spots) and cello (12 spots). Classes will be held on Mondays and Thursdays, except for percussion for girls, which will take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Those interested must come to the Moinho Cultural office (Rua Domingos Sahib, 300 – Beira-Rio) to register. It is necessary to bring the personal documents of the guardian and the participant, as well as proof of residence and the guardians’ covid-19 vaccination card.

Moinho Cultural’s coordinator, José Roberto, points out that this is one more opportunity for children and adolescents to have contact with music. “We know the importance of music, and of the arts in general, for human development. The workshops are an opportunity for anyone who wants to learn more about these instruments. No prior knowledge is required. We want our children and adolescents to be able to enjoy everything that music can offer. Moinho Cultural is living proof of the transformative power of culture, in all its forms,” he points out.
