About 40 young musicians, students of the Instituto Moinho Cultural, in Corumbá, will live a unique experience alongside the Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira (Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, OSB). Between June 12 and 18, OSB musicians will travel to the Institute’s headquarters to hold, together with the students, a pedagogical residency aimed at improving instrumental technique, concert practice, style interpretation, among other activities.
Then, between July 26 and August 2, the students will take part in an immersion at the Orchestra’s headquarters, in Rio de Janeiro, which includes classes, rehearsals, concert practice, among other activities. The musical exchange will end in a very special way: the young musicians will have the opportunity to play with the OSB, in a closing concert in Rio de Janeiro. The date and venue will still be announced.
The activities are the result of the partnership between Programa Vale Música (Vale Music Program), the flagship program of Instituto Cultural Vale, and Conexões Musicais – the social responsibility project of the Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira, sponsored by Instituto Cultural Vale via the Federal Culture Incentive Law.
The project, created in 2017, works as a kind of dialogue between the Orchestra and young musicians across Brazil, revealing talents, sparking interest in music and spreading the OSB’s knowledge and technique throughout the country.

About the Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira
Founded in 1940, the Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira is recognized as one of the most important symphonic ensembles in the country. In its 82 years of uninterrupted history, the OSB has already held more than five thousand concerts and is recognized for the pioneering nature of its actions, having been the first orchestra to tour Brazil and abroad, hold outdoor performances and audience-building projects.

About the Programa Vale Música
The Programa Vale Música is a flagship project of Instituto Cultural Vale. The program is a collaborative teaching and learning network between students from music hubs in four states – Pará, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais and Mato Grosso do Sul – and professionals from the country’s largest orchestras. In all, it involves about 250 professionals and more than 1,000 students in exchanges, classes and artistic residencies.
