The Festival, which will be free and 100% online, aims to promote exchange between musicians through an international cultural exchange

The Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano (South American Moinho Cultural Institute), through the Orquestra de Câmara do Pantanal – OCAMP (Pantanal Chamber Orchestra), holds the I Festival de Música de Concerto do Pantanal – FEMUP (1st Pantanal Concert Music Festival), with musical direction by conductor Eduardo Martinelli. Aiming to provide diverse educational activities free of charge, FEMUP brings together great music professionals from Brazil and abroad, musical performances with OCAMP, plus guest soloists and musical groups.

The official program runs from July 28 to 30, though exclusive activities with students from the public school network of Corumbá and Ladário are already scheduled for the 27th. The Festival, which will be free and 100% online, aims to promote exchange between musicians through an international cultural exchange and is part of the actions that make up Termo de Fomento n° 001/2019, signed with the Municipal Government of Corumbá/MS, through the Municipal Secretariat of Social Assistance and Citizenship – SMASC, using resources from the Municipal Fund for the Rights of Children and Adolescents – FMDCA.

Schedule

In the evening, OCAMP will headline three special concerts during the 1st edition of FEMUP. On July 28, at 7 pm (Mato Grosso do Sul time), the integration between concert music and dance takes place, with the participation of the Companhia de Dança do Pantanal (Pantanal Dance Company), with ballet numbers specially prepared for the Festival. In addition, there will be performances by Norberto Cruz (Portugal) and Orquestra Filarmônica de Santa Cruz de La Sierra (Bolivia).

On the 29th, at the same time (7 pm MS time), the Orchestra joins the viola caipira for reinterpretations of works by Heitor Vila Lobos, Almir Sater and traditional pieces of popular folk song. Next, the integration is with viola de cocho, with the show “Araras da Cidade, Músicas do Mato” (“City Macaws, Songs of the Wild”), performing music composed in harmony with images of macaws in an urban environment, which will be projected. The combination of photography with music highlights the integration of the arts as elements that add value to the Environment.

On the festival’s last night, July 30, also at 7 pm MS time, OCAMP presents celebrated works from the concert music repertoire, pieces by W.A. Mozart, A. Vivaldi and J. Brahms, in grand style.

The program is unique in bringing together artistic languages, since the Orchestra aims to involve the most diverse forms of making art, such as dance, popular knowledge, audiovisual images, nature and great masters of world music.

Among the confirmed names as guest soloists are Elouise Miranda and Bianca Danzi, Thiago Quevedo (Viola de Cocho) and Maycon Vianna (Viola Caipira).

In addition to OCAMP, the Festival will feature performances by groups and orchestras, namely:

. Illvminata (Curitiba-PR), which researches and performs medieval and Renaissance music, performing with replicas of period instruments such as lutes, hurdy-gurdy, viola da gamba, flutes, percussion and voices;

. Portuguese mandolinist Norberto Cruz, performing the concerto for mandolin and string orchestra by Italian composer Carlo Cécere, in a production specially put together for FEMUP;

. The Quarteto de Cordas Aporá (Aporá String Quartet) (São Paulo – SP), which will present works by Alberto Nepomuceno, one of the most important Brazilian composers. Made up of musicians of the highest technical quality, the group’s trajectory has been notable for its rapid rise among the most select chamber groups in Brazil.

For music professionals, the Festival will offer mini-courses on Music History, Score Editing Software, various Masterclasses for instrumentalists, conductors and singers, as well as lectures on music-related topics.

Great artists from Brazil and guests from Spain, England, Canada, Venezuela, Portugal and the USA also participate.
