The show Moinho In Concert – Guadakan, which portrays the Pantanal and raises awareness about the importance of preservation, will be broadcast by TV Morena, next Saturday (31st), starting at 2:20pm (MS). In total, 400 children and adolescents from Moinho Cultural, plus the Orquestra de Câmara do Pantanal (Pantanal Chamber Orchestra) and Cia. de Dança do Pantanal (Pantanal Dance Company), took part in the presentation that took place on December 14th and 15th, in Corumbá.

For Moinho Cultural’s executive director, Márcia Rolon, “the TV broadcast is a moment to bring to the world the art produced in Mato Grosso do Sul. Guadakan moved people and marked Moinho Cultural’s 18 years, in addition to prompting a lot of reflection. I believe those who watch it on TV will have these same feelings awakened,” she emphasizes.

The Guadakan show combines contemporary dance and orchestra and was conceived from a Guató myth. The goal is to lead viewers to a reflection: “in the 2020 fires, more than 17 million vertebrate animals were killed by the action of fire in the Pantanal. What image can we see in the reflection of its waters?”.

The presentation begins with news clips and interviews about the fire outbreaks in 2020. The Pantanal cycles – and of life as well – are represented by a dancer dressed as a snake who goes through the process of shedding her skin. Then, at the end of the show, plastic bags invade the stage, leading the audience to reflect on what they have done to preserve and take care of nature and, especially, our own backyard: the Pantanal.

The stage conception and general direction are by Márcia Rolon, arrangements and musical adaptation by Eduardo Martinelli. Conducting is by José Maikon Amorim Alves, choreography by Chico Neller and costumes by Luiz Gugliatto.

Moinho Cultural

The Institute has been located in Corumbá since 2004 and has already served more than 23,000 children and adolescents in vulnerability and social risk during this period. There, ballet and classical music classes, contemporary dance, computer science, school support, among other activities, are offered.

Moinho also benefits children and youth from the municipality of Ladário and the Bolivian cities of Puerto Suarez and Puerto Quijarro, enabling an important cultural exchange. With information from the Primeira Página portal.
