Dourados will host this Wednesday (7), at 8pm, at the Cine Auditório Wilson Biasotto of UFGD, located at Rua João Rosa Góes, 1761, Vila Progresso, the show Música Poética (Poetic Music) with the Orquestra de Câmara do Pantanal (Pantanal Chamber Orchestra), an artistic journey that unites music, dance and poetry in a tribute to the culture of Mato Grosso do Sul. Conceived and produced by the Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano, the project holds free-admission performances, bringing together two icons of music from Mato Grosso do Sul, Geraldo Espíndola and Márcio De Camillo, also accompanied by the Cia de Dança do Pantanal (Pantanal Dance Company).
The project was awarded funding through the Lei Paulo Gustavo, via a call from the State Government, funded by the Federal Government’s Ministério da Cultura, executed by the Fundação de Cultura de Mato Grosso do Sul (FCMS), the Secretaria de Estado de Turismo, Esporte e Cultura (SETESC) and the State Government, which have been increasingly encouraging cultural actions across various regions of MS.
The Dourados City Hall, through the Secretaria Municipal de Cultura, is a partner of the project and also has the cultural support of the Fundação de Cultura de Corumbá, Sesc MS, Sicredi, UFMS, CPAN, UFGD, Uems and Criatto Produções, among other partners who contribute to promoting the art and culture of Mato Grosso do Sul.
With a repertoire ranging from notable songs such as “Me Deixar Levar,” “Quiquio,” “É Necessário” and “Vida Cigana” to the new song “A Terra e uma Canção,” the show weaves together the trajectory of two composers who translate the soul of Mato Grosso do Sul into sounds and words. The performances also feature choreography that transforms the stage into a living landscape, exploring gesture, the body and belonging.
For Márcio De Camillo, the show is the result of a deep artistic connection with Geraldo Espíndola, with whom he composed the new song A Terra e uma Canção, along with the participation of the Orquestra de Câmara do Pantanal and the Cia de Dança do Pantanal, formed by talents from the Instituto Moinho Cultural. “It’s an indescribable emotion to stand alongside a master like Geraldo Espíndola, uniting our voices and generations in a song that translates our love for nature and the urgency of preserving it,” he notes.
He speaks about the project’s conception: “We created this show as a living celebration of our culture, our land and the art that moves us,” he continues. “And it’s an immense joy to be accompanied by the Orquestra de Câmara and the Companhia de Dança do Pantanal, who elevate this moment with their art and sensitivity. It’s art, it’s education, it’s life transformed into celebration!” Márcio adds.
For Geraldo Espíndola, the show also represents a powerful meeting between talents from Mato Grosso do Sul. “This is a show that brings together three of the most beautiful things we have to show in Corumbá and the Pantanal: the art of Moinho Cultural through dance and the orchestra, formed by talents who were born and raised within Moinho itself — and I am a witness to that. It also unites my work with that of the great composer and musician Márcio De Camillo, in a very special artistic encounter. It’s a moving and vibrant show that, in my opinion, deserves to be seen by the whole world,” he declared.
