Cellist Valério Reis, accepted into the OSB Jovem (the youth branch of the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra), holds a benefit concert in Corumbá on Wednesday, February 25, at 7:30 p.m. The performance takes place at Casa A and will feature a special appearance by pianist Virgílio Miranda.
The initiative aims to raise funds to support the musician’s move to and stay in Rio de Janeiro, where he will begin a new professional stage with the Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira Jovem (Brazilian Symphony Youth Orchestra).
Valério says he has high hopes for this new phase of his life. “I am very hopeful about moving to Rio de Janeiro, and extremely fulfilled by my acceptance into the OSB Jovem. I am fulfilling a dream of many years and taking a big step in my career. It is also a great personal achievement, as someone from Corumbá,” he says.
The event is held in partnership with Casa A, Café Dandalu, Espaço de Música Virgílio Miranda, Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano (South American Moinho Cultural Institute), and Orquestra de Câmara do Pantanal (OCAMP) (Pantanal Chamber Orchestra).
Admission is by donation, in the amount of R$ 20, and space is limited.
