In addition, the institution opens its doors and hosts other programming in Corumbá
Between the 26th and 29th of this month, the FASP (Festival América do Sul Pantanal / South America Pantanal Festival) takes place in Corumbá. The Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano (South American Moinho Cultural Institute) takes part in the activities, with the OCAMP (Orquestra de Câmara do Pantanal / Pantanal Chamber Orchestra) and the Cia de Dança do Pantanal (Pantanal Dance Company), in addition to opening its doors to host some of the festival’s attractions, such as Quebra-torto com Letras and some workshops.
OCAMP will open the festival’s program on Thursday night (26th), at Praça Generoso Ponce, in downtown Corumbá. The orchestra’s conductor, Eduardo Martinelli, explains that the performance will last 50 minutes and the repertoire has already been selected.
“Our repertoire will be quite diverse, with a more festive character suited to an open-air concert. For OCAMP and all of Moinho Cultural, taking part in the festival is an important step. Recently we went to Dubai, we toured four capitals with Vale Música (Vale Music Program), and now we’re going to take part in the Festival América do Sul Pantanal. It’s a great responsibility, since it’s an event that brings people from various countries and from other Brazilian states. Above all, it’s a great responsibility for us to perform, for the first time this year, at home,” says the conductor.
On Sunday (29th), the last day of the festival, the Cia de Dança do Pantanal, created five years ago at Moinho Cultural, takes the Palco Rio Paraguai stage, at Porto Geral, to perform at the show of the trio Hermanos Irmãos, formed by Márcio De Camillo, Jerry Espíndola and Rodrigo Teixeira. Also taking part in the performance are musicians Carmen Monges (Paraguay) and Ruben Goldin (Argentina). The show is the festival’s final attraction.
A member of Hermanos Irmãos, Márcio De Camillo points out that the trio has already performed together with Moinho Cultural on other occasions. “This year we’re marking 10 years, and the goal of this musical encounter is an embrace of South America, thinking through both its melodic and rhythmic sides. Moinho Cultural has carried culture beyond borders, and throughout these 10 years of Hermanos Irmãos we’ve had artistic collaborations and it’s always been wonderful. Now, once again, we have a special participation from Moinho in the songs Mercedita and Galopeira,” Márcio reveals about the Cia de Dança do Pantanal’s participation.
Open doors
In addition to performances at the festival, Moinho Cultural also takes part as a cultural venue during the Festival América do Sul Pantanal. Check out the program:
