The Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano (South American Cultural Mill Institute) was granted a parliamentary earmark from congressman Paulo Duarte for the purchase of professional sound equipment for the institution’s Nutec (Technology Center).

With the funding, Nutec will receive the new equipment and, in return, offer a course in “Audio and Sound Recording” for teenagers over 15 who take part in Moinho Cultural’s activities and the community.

The goal of the course is to train young people for the job market with classes on how to capture and record various types of musical groups, and provide sound reinforcement for lectures and presentations that require professional sound equipment.

With two months of theoretical classes and eight months of practical classes, the course should initially train 10 teenagers and young people.

Congressman Paulo Duarte highlighted the work developed by Moinho Cultural. “The release of these funds will make it possible to purchase sound equipment that will give Moinho Cultural more modern resources for its performances. I have great affection and respect for this institution linked to art and culture,” he said.

Moinho Cultural’s executive director, Márcia Rolon, explains that the main goal is to develop social inclusion. “We are very grateful to congressman Paulo Duarte for believing in art and culture as agents of social transformation. Acquiring this equipment will allow these children, teenagers and young people to have a chance at generating income in the future,” she says.
