Giving Day Campaign to open this Friday with a march in Corumbá

Corumbá opens on Friday, November 11, the Giving Day Campaign with a march through the city’s central region, starting at 2 pm. The program is organized by the Casa de Recuperação Infantil “Padre Antônio Muller” (CRIPAM) (Padre Antônio Muller Children’s Recovery Home), and this year gains reinforcement from partners: Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano, Cidade Dom Bosco and Instituto Novo Olhar.

Last Tuesday, the 8th, representatives of the four entities attended the ordinary session of the Câmara (City Council) and, on that occasion, CRIPAM’s pedagogical coordinator, Dilson Esquer Vilalva, gave an overview of the campaign held last year, which had the support of the City Council and is being repeated now, and spoke about the activities planned starting Friday in the city.

This year, Giving Day, which became Municipal Law No. 2,857, sanctioned by Mayor Marcelo Iunes on November 1, 2022, falls on November 29, the first Tuesday following National Thanksgiving Day, which will be celebrated on the last Thursday of the month, the 24th.

Dilson thanked the work of Corumbá’s councilors alongside the Executive Branch for establishing Giving Day on the Municipality of Corumbá’s official calendar. He recalled that this year’s program is extensive and, besides the march that marks the opening, on Saturday a Social Action is planned at CRIPAM, in the Cristo Redentor neighborhood, from 8 am to 12 pm.

The campaign is aimed at assisting Corumbá families in situations of social vulnerability. Giving Day is an event that aims to awaken the sensitivity of individuals and legal entities, to collaborate with nonprofit civil society organizations in sustaining their social actions for children and adolescents in situations of social vulnerability in Corumbá.

To take part in the campaign, one just needs to purchase the ‘Giving Day Cake’, with a symbolic gesture of R$40.00. Orders can be made by phone at (67) 98471 7030 and (67) 98484 7971

The funds raised will help CRIPAM and partner institutions transform a gesture of solidarity into a Christmas kit with farofa, soft drink, chicken and panettone for 300 families in situations of social vulnerability served by the institution.
