A group of Brazilian musicians gained prominence on social media and in the news this week after performing aboard the world’s largest passenger aircraft, the Airbus A380, while traveling to Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates.
The Orquestra de Câmara do Pantanal (OCAMP) (Pantanal Chamber Orchestra), which is part of the activities of the Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano (South American Moinho Cultural Institute), headquartered in Corumbá, Mato Grosso do Sul, flew to the Middle East last Tuesday, February 15, to give the first international performance of its history, this weekend.
On February 19 and 20, the 15 young members who embarked on the mission will play “Trenzinho do Caipira (Bachianas Brasileiras No. 2)”, by Heitor Villa-Lobos, at the massive Expo Dubai event, which has been taking place since October 1, 2021 and runs until March 31 of this year.
The performance will be at the Dubai Millennium Amphitheatreos, but the Orchestra decided to “give a little preview” aboard the huge double-decker aircraft, playing another song that is also quite popular here, “Mercedita”.
