A series of videos with an exclusive repertoire was created by Orquestra Ouro Preto for the music training projects of the Programa Vale Música
Corumbá, December 8, 2020 – The Grupo de Cordas e Madeiras (Strings and Woodwinds Group) of Instituto Moinho Cultural, from Corumbá, is the star of the fifth video, released this Tuesday, in the exclusive repertoire that Orquestra Ouro Preto developed to celebrate Beethoven’s 250th anniversary with students of the Programa Vale Música (Vale Música Program) – Instituto Moinho Cultural (MS), Vale Música Serra (ES) and Vale Música Belém (PA).
Through distance-learning classes, specialist teachers guided the students through unprecedented recordings based on the theme of the “Rondo” from the famous “Violin Concerto”. The versions took on Brazilian flavors, in arrangements for percussion, strings and winds, all with great originality and recorded from inside the students’ homes. In the end, together, these movements form a single work that also celebrates the work done throughout 2020 between students and teachers. The result, with seven special variations, can be seen on the Orquestra Ouro Preto website. Two more videos will be released by the end of December.

Samara Perucci is a flute student at Instituto Moinho Cultural and performs together with the Grupo de Cordas e Madeiras in the fifth video, titled Toada pelo Rio Reno (Toada on the Rhine River). “This year’s exchange exceeded expectations. The teachers gave us a lot of confidence and helped us deal with the difficulties of distance. I really enjoyed the classes, I learned new things and I was able to develop further in the things I already knew,” says the young musician.
For Maestro Rodrigo Toffolo, the experience was a milestone in the young artists’ careers. “The process of recording represents the biggest challenge for a musician. It’s about leaving your mark, your sound for posterity, it’s like that sports saying goes: training is training, the game is the game”. Throughout this path of exchange and learning, which culminated in the recording of the video arrangements, the students had the opportunity to become better and more self-confident musicians. The final videos bear out the whole process through the joy, pride and self-esteem of a shared, collective work.
Christiana Saldanha, Manager of Instituto Cultural Vale, believes that the year of isolation brought challenges, but also achievement. “Throughout 2020, the collaborative teaching and learning network that is the Programa Vale Música established an even closer connection, despite social distancing. Virtually, the students took part in various activities and raised their musical awareness in this teaching process of excellence led by Orquestra Ouro Preto. It is with joy that we see the closing of this cycle through the videos produced and the growth of each of our students,” she states.

About the Programa Vale Música
Since the early 2000s, Vale has created opportunities for students to take part in musical training and develop their talents in the states of Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Pará and Mato Grosso do Sul. In 2019, the company created the Programa Vale Música, a collaborative teaching and learning network made up of the musical projects of the four states and the country’s largest orchestras. About Orquestra Ouro Preto
