Vale announced, this Friday (the 6th), the 15 social initiatives from Corumbá and Ladário selected for the 2020 Programa Comunidade Participativa (Participatory Community Program). Seven institutions were chosen by popular vote and the rest by an evaluation committee. They will receive up to R$ 15 thousand each to develop projects in the areas of income generation, professional training, health, culture, and sports.
The Programa Comunidade Participativa was developed by Vale with the goal of strengthening the communities where it operates. Its distinguishing feature lies in the population’s participation in choosing the social projects to be funded, opening up new life perspectives and promoting citizenship. Over 13 years of the Program’s execution, around R$ 2.8 million has already been allocated to about 100 organizations, benefiting more than 26 thousand people in the region.
For Vitor Libanio, Vale’s Sustainability manager, the diversity of the selected projects can contribute to the development of the territories. “All the initiatives have the potential to generate social impact and promote significant transformations in the communities where we operate,” he states.
