Invited by APAC to the XV Festival Misiones de Chiquitos, OCAMP mobilized the Corumbá community in a benefit concert to fund the trip of 17 people to Bolivia
The Orquestra de Câmara do Pantanal (Pantanal Chamber Orchestra, OCAMP), maintained by the Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano and part of the Programa de Orquestras Juvenis Ibero-Americanas, is taking part for the first time in the XV Festival Internacional de Música Renascentista e Barroca Americana Misiones de Chiquitos, in Bolivia. The group was invited by the Asociación Pro Arte y Cultura (APAC) to join the concert program between April 17 and 27, 2026.
To make possible the trip of 16 musicians – Brazilians and Bolivians alike -, the Instituto Moinho Cultural held a benefit concert in Corumbá, which mobilized the local community through ticket sales, raffles and other solidarity initiatives. The action raised R$4,400, an amount that is being used to cover the orchestra’s travel costs, with part of it already allocated to booking transportation.
The Misiones de Chiquitos festival is considered one of the most important historical music events in Latin America, and this is the first time OCAMP performs at the event, reaffirming the partnership between Brazil and Bolivia. In 2026, the event celebrates 30 years of existence and brings together artists from different countries in performances held in the mission towns of the Chiquitos region and in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
OCAMP will perform in Roboré, San Rafael de Velasco, San Miguel de Velasco, San José de Chiquitos and Santiago de Chiquitos, with a repertoire focused on concert music and the cultural production of Brazil’s Center-West region.
The invitation was formalized in a letter sent by the festival’s director, Dr. Piotr Nawrot, directly to the artistic director of the Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano, Márcia Rolon, recognizing the artistic work developed by the orchestra on the border between Brazil and Bolivia.
“It is the recognition of work built with dedication, and also an opportunity to bring the artistic production of our border region to the country that is our partner and part of our heritage, strengthening this cultural dialogue between Brazil and Bolivia,” said Márcia Rolon, artistic director of the Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano.
The participation represents a significant step in OCAMP’s trajectory, as it now joins an international circuit of historical music and engages with musicians and audiences from different countries. For the Instituto Moinho Cultural, the festival debut reaffirms the artistic potential built over more than 21 years of continuous work with children, adolescents and young people from the border region.
