About 160 people took part in the 4th Teia/Forum of the Pontos de Cultura of the Center-West, held this Tuesday (24) in an online format. The gathering brought together Pontos and Pontões de Cultura, cultural agents, and representatives of the Cultura Viva network from the states of Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, Goiás, and the Federal District, in a moment marked by a diversity of voices, exchange of experiences, and strengthening of regional articulation.

Held within the framework of the Plano Nacional de Cultura Viva (PNCV) (National Living Culture Plan), the Virtual Teia is part of the mobilization process for the 6th Teia Nacional dos Pontos de Cultura, scheduled for May 2026. During the program, state representatives shared experiences, challenges, and proposals, highlighting the resumption of network articulation in the region.

The gathering also included the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Culture, such as the Secretary of Citizenship and Cultural Diversity, Márcia Rollemberg, the director of the National Living Culture Policy, João Pontes, and the general coordinator of Articulation for the National Living Culture Policy, Leandro Anton, reinforcing the connection between regional articulation and the national guidelines of the public policy.

Throughout the evening, state representatives highlighted a common point: the resumption of the Cultura Viva network after a period of disarticulation. For Walter Cedro Santos, representative of the Comissão Nacional dos Pontos de Cultura (CNPdC) (National Commission of Pontos de Cultura) and one of the organizers of the initiative, the result reinforces the potential of the initiative in the region.

“We used to be the most articulated region of the country within the Cultura Viva program. After the state and district Teias, we once again feel that energy coming from the Cerrado, the Pantanal, and the Legal Amazon. The Virtual Teia was a moment of reunion, of listening, and of strengthening this articulation,” he said.

Besides bringing together already-active representatives, the meeting also served as a welcoming space for new delegates who will take part in a National Teia for the first time. “Many have never participated. This was a moment of learning, exchange of experiences, and preparation for those who are now joining the Cultura Viva program,” Walter Cedro Santos highlighted.

The Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano (South American Moinho Cultural Institute), Pontão de Cultura of Mato Grosso do Sul, was represented by Márcia Rolon, the institution’s artistic director and the state’s delegate to the National Commission of Pontos de Cultura, reinforcing the organization’s role in the cultural articulation of the border region between Brazil and Bolivia.

“The Teia is always a space for gathering, listening, and collective building. When the Pontos and Pontões de Cultura come together, we strengthen the network, share experiences, and expand the capacity for mobilization so that cultural public policies keep moving forward,” Márcia Rolon highlighted.

The program also showcased the strength of the territories and the cultural diversity of the Center-West region, bringing together expressions ranging from indigenous and traditional cultures to urban and peripheral initiatives. Indigenous representatives reinforced the importance of cultural policies for strengthening ancestral knowledge and the identity of native peoples.

Another highlight was the sense of belonging and collective building. Participants noted that the Teia has already been under way since the state gatherings. “We are already living the National Teia. This process of gatherings is itself the teia [network] happening,” one of the network’s representatives noted.

Pontão expands actions with seminar on diversity and inclusion

As a follow-up to the articulation actions, the Pontão Moinho Cultural Unindo Pontos is holding today (26), starting at 7 p.m. (MS time), the virtual seminar “Diálogos sobre Diversidade e Inclusão” (Dialogues on Diversity and Inclusion). The gathering will feature Márcia Rolon, the Institute’s artistic director, public manager Wania Alecrim, psycho-pedagogue and coordinator of the Grupo Vozes Especiais, Sandra Helena, and occupational therapist Etna Gutierres.

Among the topics to be addressed are culture as a tool for valuing diversity, access to culture for people with disabilities, and the challenges faced by women in border territories — issues that speak directly to the reality of the participants served by the Moinho Cultural in Corumbá (MS) and the region.
