This Friday, September 26, at 2 p.m., the auditorium of the Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano (South American Moinho Cultural Institute) will host a Seminar on Cyberbullying, aimed exclusively at participants, parents and guardians, as well as the institution’s staff. The goal is to inform, discuss and raise awareness about the dangers of the online environment and the social, psychological and educational impacts of this type of violence.

Throughout the month, about 60 teenagers from Moinho Cultural were involved in training activities, with 20 of them representing their groups as presenters at the seminar. The teams are made up of Cia Juvenil, Inter Dança, Básico III Música and Inter Música, who took part in a series of meetings with invited professionals from different fields, who informed the debate and the preparation for the event.

On September 18, the young people took part in a conversation with Julieta Gouveia, Maria Zilda, Elisbelto Cavalcante and Flávio Barros, education professionals, discussing the school-related impacts suffered by victims of cyberbullying and how schools can intervene.

On the same date, there was also a discussion circle with psychologists Rosa Marília, Bruna Mariana and Elaine Gomes, who addressed the emotional and psychological harm caused by this practice.

On September 19, the conversation was led by Information Technology teacher Danielle Salles, on the theme “The dangers of the internet: nobody is anonymous,” bringing reflections on digital security and online responsibility.

The program continued on September 24 with a talk by Sabrina de Campos, a Law student at the Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), who addressed the legal implications of cyberbullying and reinforced guidance on preventing and combating the problem.

All these conversations culminated in the Seminar, presented today (26th). In it, group representatives will present their reflections and proposals, giving teenagers an active voice in building a culture of respect, safety and empathy in the online environment as well.

According to Jessyka Karolaine, head of Moinho Cultural’s Social Center, the seminar is a preparation for the Mock Trial, to be held in the future, addressing the same theme. “This year the chosen theme was cyberbullying because we are living in a digital age where violence is hiding behind screens, and our role is to prevent risky situations,” she explains.
