The Pontão (regional culture hub) Moinho Cultural Unindo os Pontos took part, last week, in the 4th Artistic and Political Meeting promoted by Pontão Pátria Grande. During the event, the executive director of the Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano (South American Moinho Cultural Institute), Márcia Rolon, presented the work carried out over two decades on the border between Brazil and Bolivia, highlighting art as a tool for social transformation and cross-border integration.

“Moinho Cultural is a school of life”, said Márcia, emphasizing that the institution’s purpose goes beyond teaching music and dance. “Our mission is to guarantee access to art, culture and knowledge, building alternatives for a promising future, far from social vulnerability”.

The institute currently serves 450 children and adolescents directly in situations of social risk, including Brazilians, Bolivians and immigrants of various nationalities. The reach of the work goes even further, through artistic performances and audiovisual content with wide visibility.

At the meeting, Márcia also noted the concrete results of Moinho’s work: more than 180 professions have already been pursued by former participants of the project. “We don’t just train musicians and dancers, we train citizens capable of dreaming and achieving”, she said.
