MS culture hub and points meet with Ministry of Culture to discuss their work

The meeting was held in Corumbá, at Moinho Cultural, the Mato Grosso do Sul culture hubThe Steering Committee and cultural agents of the Pontão de Cultura (Culture Hub) of Mato Grosso do Sul: “Moinho Cultural – Unindo os Pontos” (Connecting the Points) met, on December 14, with the Ministry of Culture (MinC) as well as the state’s Pontos de Cultura (Culture Points) to exchange experiences and hold discussions aimed at strengthening the mission.

The meeting took place in Corumbá, at the headquarters of the Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano, which serves as the Mato Grosso do Sul culture hub. Pontões de Cultura (Culture Hubs) are entities or institutions that coordinate a network of other cultural points, developing mobilization, training, mediation, outreach and integration activities with society.

With the presence of the Cultura Viva articulation coordinator at MinC, Leandro Anton, the meeting was attended by members of the Steering Committee and representatives of partner organizations: Grupo Vozes Especiais, Sociedade Comunitária Gibiteca, Fundação Nelito Câmara, Circo do Mato and Grupo TEZ.

During the meeting, strategies were discussed to strengthen the network of culture points, align public policies and expand the impact of the actions developed in the communities.

“The meeting involved the hub’s Steering Committee, which is an important principle of participation and network organization together with all culture points. The committee helps plan actions, map, and also train, in addition to guiding the Cultura Viva agents, which is a goal within the work plan, seeking generational renewal,” explained the Cultura Viva articulation coordinator at MinC, Leandro Anton.

For Moinho Cultural’s executive director, Márcia Rolon, the meeting is a milestone for the Mato Grosso do Sul network. “The opportunity to sit down with the Ministry of Culture and take stock of our actions and, together with partners, discuss new strategies, share our experiences so far, is enriching and fundamental for us to continue transforming lives through culture,” she stated.

Representing the Ponto de Cultura Circo do Mato, cultural producer Laila Saad Pulchério was one of the participants in the meeting.

“The meeting of the culture points was wonderful. It’s something that only enriches us and helps us have more drive and passion. We understand each other, because we are similar people who work in different areas. I’m happy to be in Corumbá and to be part of this network,” she highlighted.

Steering Committees play a fundamental role in the coordination and implementation of cultural policies at the local and regional levels. They are responsible for identifying needs, proposing actions and mobilizing resources to promote culture broadly and inclusively.
