In addition to leading workshops for the unit’s students, the OCAMP Trio, of the Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano, gave a concert open to the public.

The OCAMP Trio (Orquestra de Câmara do Pantanal, the Pantanal Chamber Orchestra) took part, on April 12 and 13, in the Sesc Partituras – Concertos Locais (Local Concerts) project, at Sesc Lageado, in Campo Grande. In addition to leading workshops for the unit’s students, the OCAMP Trio, of the Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano, gave a concert open to the public.

For Moinho Cultural’s music program coordinator and OCAMP pianist, Vinícius Klaus, the students’ dedication stood out. “The workshop was incredible, the students very dedicated, very knowledgeable. Since it’s a social project that serves the people of the community, we have this humanized outlook. So, I learned a lot being here too, I’m sure, and I can’t wait for the next ones to happen,” he says.

Klaus also highlights the fact that art is a path to professionalization for the students served by Sesc Lageado. “Everything is very much designed so that the child, the adolescent, the young person who comes here sees art not just as a refuge, but also as a market opportunity. That really caught my attention, the way it’s structured from the ground up. They have video creation courses, image editing courses too, and everything is connected with music, sound design,” says the pianist.

Besides Vinícius Klaus, the trio is made up of: Melissa Lazo, on violin, and José Maikson, on cello. All are OCAMP musicians, which is linked to Moinho Cultural.

Cirlene Cruz, manager of Sesc Lageado, says that hosting musicians from outside was a source of joy. “Hosting Sesc Partituras, which is a national Sesc project, makes us very happy, because it’s a way for us to encourage these kids to study, to show them there’s a job market, that there are growth options within music. The masterclass was incredible, it brought tears of happiness. They are very excited and I’m sure the OCAMP Trio left a legacy here.”

The Sesc Partituras Concert series is turning 12 years old in 2024 and promotes public access to the works on the Sesc Partituras website through live performances. There are 60 concerts a year in units across the country, encouraging cultural production and access to Brazilian music.

Sesc Partituras is a virtual music library made up of digital scores, works transcribed through music publishing software. The project’s collection includes music by Brazilian composers from various generations, from the colonial period to the present day, with original works of historical interest. The site provides free access to the scores.
