Seven musicians from the Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano (South American Moinho Cultural Institute), from Corumbá/MS, took part between March 22 and 27 in an artistic immersion program in Rio de Janeiro, with members of the OSB (Brazilian Symphony Orchestra) and support from the Instituto Cultural Vale (Vale Cultural Institute).
This time, the immersion focused on violin, cello, double bass, bassoon and percussion. The idea is that, upon returning, the young musicians from Moinho Cultural will share their knowledge with their colleagues.

One of the participants in the immersion is Brunna de Arruda Ramos, a member of the Orquestra Jovem do Moinho Cultural (Moinho Cultural Youth Orchestra), who plays bassoon and, for the first time, traveled to Rio de Janeiro. “It’s very magical to sit in the auditorium and see the professional musicians playing together. I was moved and happy with this opportunity to be here learning more,” she said.

In addition to the classes, which take place at the Cidade das Artes, the Moinho Cultural members will have the opportunity to attend a concert in the series A OSB do Brasil, created and presented by the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra in 2021, which returned in the Temporada Territórios (Territories Season), on March 26 and 27 on the stage of the Grande Sala at Cidade das Artes with a tribute to the Center-West region.

In the concert honoring Brazil’s Center-West region, the symphonic ensemble, conducted by maestro Eduardo Pereira, offers a sonic journey featuring symphonic poems and suites based on musical themes from Center-West folklore, beginning with Poemas Sinfônicos (Symphonic Poems), moving through Suíte Folclórica (Folk Suite) and Suíte Pantaneira (Pantanal Suite), and ending with Suíte Sertaneja (Sertaneja Suite).

“We are grateful for this further opportunity that the OSB and the Instituto Cultural Vale offer our musicians. We are certain that they will come out of this immersion changed and will bring immense experience back to Corumbá. They will make a difference in the Orquestra Jovem do Moinho Cultural, will gain more confidence in their performances, and will help transform lives through art,” said the executive director of Moinho Cultural, Márcia Rolon.
