The Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano (South American Cultural Mill Institute) opens its doors, in Corumbá, to host the programming of the Festival América do Sul, which begins next Thursday (9) and runs until Sunday (12).
In addition, the OCAMP and the Cia de Dança do Pantanal, which were born from and are linked to Moinho Cultural, are part of the FAS 2023 programming. The OCAMP (Orquestra de Câmara do Pantanal, Pantanal Chamber Orchestra) performs, together with singer Tetê Espíndola, at the Catedral Nossa Senhora da Candelária, on Friday (10), at 9 am, with “Acústicas da Natureza.” The Cia de Dança do Pantanal (Pantanal Dance Company), meanwhile, presents the show Fernão Capelo Gaivota (Jonathan Livingston Seagull) on Sunday, at 6 pm, at the Jardim da Independência.
“As pantaneiros and corumbaenses, we feel honored to be part, once again, of the Festival América do Sul programming. Showing a bit of what is produced by us, in our land, shows all the potential of the art from Mato Grosso do Sul,” says the executive director of Moinho Cultural, Márcia Rolon.
Programming at Moinho Cultural
In this edition of the festival, four workshops are held – open to the public – on the premises of Moinho Cultural. Souvenir design in Viola de cocho, Thread weaving – Faixa Pantaneira and Metal engravings, which began on Monday (6) and run until Thursday (9). The Photographic Eye 60+ workshop, with Bolívar Porto, takes place on November 9 and 10, from 2 pm to 4:30 pm.
On Wednesday (8), the selection of models for Pantanal Fashion takes place at the Moinho Cultural Auditorium, from 5 pm to 6 pm, which will bring the narrative of the brands presented.
On Friday (10), from 8 am to 1 pm, Moinho Cultural hosts the “Business Meeting,” an opportunity for brand expansion and growth. In addition to fostering the prospecting of new contacts and the assessment of good business opportunities, the Meeting will feature two talks: “Where I came from and where I want to go,” with designer Dih Morais, from Bahia, and “A look at design and market,” with artist, designer and researcher Rodrigo Ambrósio, along with Evelin Perdomo, a professional who combines design and craftsmanship in her projects, as well as invited shopkeepers.
On November 10 and 11, from 8 am to 11 am, Quebra-torto com Letras brings together writers and literature lovers, at the Salão América do Sul, at Moinho Cultural. Closing the programming, on Sunday (12), at 10 am, the “Music Production” workshop takes place, with musician and producer Luiz Meira, who shared the stage with Gal Costa for more than 20 years and works as a music producer for various artists in Brazil and abroad.

Fernão Capelo Gaivota show
On Sunday, at 6 pm, the Cia de Dança do Pantanal presents the show Fernão Capelo Gaivota (Jonathan Livingston Seagull), which has already been presented in several municipalities of Mato Grosso do Sul during a tour. The performance has free admission and takes place at the Jardim da Independência.
“Fernão Capelo Gaivota,” a best-seller written by Richard Bach, tells the story of a seagull for whom flying is not simply an act of getting around. Flying is an art and, as such, must be trained, practiced and shared with others, generating great transformations. A story about freedom, learning and love, which receives the orchestrated notes in this adaptation signed by conductor Rodrigo Toffolo and which also features heavyweight names such as Tim Rescala, author of the original music, played by the Orquestra Ouro Preto (Ouro Preto Orchestra), with narration led by the voice of actress Zezé Motta.
