The Instituto Moinho Cultural Sul-Americano (South American Cultural Mill Institute) is in the final stretch of preparation for Moinho In Concert 2022: Guadakan. This year, the presentation will take the form of a public class and will take place in four sessions, on December 14th and 15th, at the Centro de Convenções do Pantanal, on Rua Domingos Sahib, 570 – Porto Geral.

With the new presentation format, the audience able to attend Moinho In Concert will be larger. “In this public-class format, open to the public, we manage to allow more people to watch. Besides the parents and relatives of our participants, we will have in the audience children, teenagers, and young people who are assisted by social projects in our region, schools, and shelters. This moment marks the closing of the year of continued training at Moinho Cultural and is, in itself, a celebration,” says the executive director of Moinho Cultural and general director of the show, Márcia Rolon.

Guadakan, besides marking the closing of the activities carried out by the institution throughout the year, also celebrates the 18th anniversary of Moinho Cultural, celebrated this year. Over this period, the institution has already assisted more than 23 thousand children from the border region in situations of social vulnerability.
To celebrate the date, the show was entirely conceived from a Guató legend, which, incidentally, gives the public class its name. The show combines contemporary dance and orchestra.

The show

Facing the legend of Guadakan, Moinho In Concert leads everyone to a reflection: “in the 2020 fires, more than 17 million vertebrate animals were killed by the action of fire in the Pantanal. What image can we see reflected in its waters?”

“Given the immensity of the Pantanal, it is easy and common to think it belongs to no one. But it does! And taking care of these resources that are offered to us is everyone’s duty. Seeing animals suffering awakened in us the urgency to talk much more about the importance of preserving all this heritage that unfolds before our eyes,” explains Márcia.

The show, in public-class format, will bring together more than 400 participants from Moinho Cultural, in addition to the Orquestra de Câmara do Pantanal (Pantanal Chamber Orchestra) and the Cia de Dança do Pantanal (Pantanal Dance Company). More than 60 people are directly involved in the production.

The scenic concept and general direction are by Márcia Rolon, arrangements and musical adaptation by Eduardo Martinelli. The conducting is by José Maikon Amorim Alves, the choreography is by Chico Neller, and the costumes by Luiz Gugliatto.

Moinho Cultural has the Instituto Cultural Vale as its master sponsor. For the event, it has the cultural support of Fecomércio MS, Sesc MS, Documenta Pantanal, Sebrae, and Sesi. The institution has sponsorship from Itaú, Visa, Brinks, BTG Pactual, Comper, Hinove Agrociência, Instituto Rodobens, Criança Esperança; and has a partnership with J.Macêdo and Itaú Social, as well as cultural support from Instituto Far, Fundação de Cultura de Mato Grosso do Sul, and the Secretaria de Estado de Cidadania e Cultura.
