An icon of music in the 1980s, the irreverent and talented Cazuza, responsible for countless songs that are part of Brazilian audiences’ emotional memory, will be honored in symphonic format in the unprecedented concert “Exagerado”. Under the artistic direction of maestro Eder Paolozzi, principal conductor of the Nova Orquestra (New Orchestra) and of the Funk Orquestra, musicians from the ensemble join young musicians from the Programa Vale Música (Vale Music Program) to present orchestrated versions of hits such as “Ideologia”, “O nosso amor a gente inventa”, “Pro dia nascer feliz”, “Codinome Beija-Flor”, “O Tempo não Para”, “Exagerado”, among others.
The tour opens in Rio de Janeiro on April 5, one day after the singer-songwriter’s birthday — he would have turned 64 in 2022. The concert then moves on to Vitória (April 6), Belo Horizonte (April 8) and closes in Belém (April 10). Sales open on March 18, with tickets at affordable prices.
“The Nova Orquestra was born to embody the face of Brazil, and nothing represents our country more than the union of several cities and the repertoire of the master Cazuza. We can’t wait to hit the road and deliver this experience to the audience and musicians!”, says Mateus Simões, managing partner of Agência Olga, creator of the Nova Orquestra.
Conducting duties will fall to Renan Cardoso, principal conductor of the Orquestra Jovem Vale Música Belém, violin teacher at the Instituto Estadual Carlos Gomes and member of the Camerata FAM and the Quarteto de Belém.
The ensemble will be made up of 30 participants from the Vale Música program, with 10 from Belém, in Pará, 10 from Serra, in Espírito Santo, and 10 from Moinho Cultural – Corumbá, in Mato Grosso do Sul, plus 5 members of the Nova Orquestra, from Rio de Janeiro. There will be sixteen violins, six violas, four cellos, one flute, one clarinet, two French horns, two trumpets, one trombone, one drum kit and one electric bass.
This is the second partnership between the Nova Orquestra and Vale Música, the first with in-person performances.

About Nova Orquestra
A project created by Agência Olga in 2019, the Nova Orquestra aims to promote democratization and access to classical pieces and concerts, surprising audiences with unexpected sounds. Already in its first year of existence, the Nova Orquestra performed at Game XP, the world’s largest GamePark, and on the Sunset stage at Rock in Rio, alongside rappers Rael, Agir, Baco Exu do Blues and Rincon Sapiência.
About the Programa Vale Música
An original project of the Instituto Cultural Vale, the Vale Música program is a collaborative teaching and learning network among students from musical hubs in four states – Pará, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais and Mato Grosso do Sul – and professionals from the country’s largest orchestras. In all, it involves around 250 professionals and more than 1,000 students in exchanges, classes and artistic residencies. Partners of the Programa Vale Música include the Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira (OSB), the Orquestra Ouro Preto, the Orquestra Filarmônica de Minas Gerais, the Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo (Osesp) and the Nova Orquestra, sponsored through the Federal Law for Cultural Incentive.
