Corumbá, Dourados, and Ponta Porã will host the resumption of performances by the singer from Mato Grosso do Sul

This November, singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist Paulo Simões returns to the stage. The tour “Sonhos Guaranis” begins on November 19 in Corumbá, and the following weekend arrives in Dourados and Ponta Porã.

“I feel alive because of the opportunity to go back to doing what I love and have always done. It will be wonderful to bring the public verses and melodies of my own composition and also of great partners. It’s a Sonho Guarani!” says the musician.

The tour’s name refers to the song composed by Paulo Simões and Almir Sater in the early 1980s. The song cemented the friendship and partnership between the two and has been re-recorded by several musicians.

The show’s set list will trace, in three moments, the arc of the history of Mato Grosso do Sul’s music, from the folk song “Cuitelinho” to the blues “D de destino,” written by Simões, Almir Sater, and Renato Teixeira.

The tour also features the voice of singer Maria Alice, who will be present at every show. The dance duo Ana Vieira and Érico Bispo will also twirl on the tour’s stages, showcasing cururu and siriri, folk dances of Mato Grosso do Sul.

The band accompanying Simões in every city is also made up of renowned musicians from the state: Gilson Espíndola, Romário Amorim, Renan Nonato, Leandro Perez, Ju Souc, and Marcelo Ribeiro.

All the shows are free and include a Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) interpreter. At every show there will be mask distribution and a collection of non-perishable food, which will be donated to charitable institutions in Corumbá, Dourados, and Ponta Porã.

Diálogos Musicais com Paulo Simões (Musical Dialogues with Paulo Simões) – Anyone who wants to get to know the singer can attend, on the day of each show, at 10 a.m., a chat with the artist about his career and body of work. These meetings will also feature a Libras interpreter.

In Corumbá, the conversation will be held at the Museu de História do Pantanal (MUHPAN), moderated by artist and cultural producer Márcia Rolon. In Ponta Porã, it will be at the Centro de Convenções, moderated by actor John Caetano, and in Dourados, at a venue to be announced, moderated by poet Emmanuel Marinho.
